NUCs here we come! – Integrated CEC for the Intel NUC
Introducing the Intel NUC HDMI-CEC Adapter!
So it’s been a long time coming and after much discussion with Intel we’ve managed to create an adapter that will work in the very popular Intel NUCs, instead of requiring 3.3V we’ve switched to using 5V removing the compatibility issue some customers have faced historically. We’ve also spent a great deal of time shrinking the board to fit inside the case.
This isn’t an easy problem to solve as the NUC although having a custom solutions header on the board doesn’t actually give any thought to how you might use it. In the end we’ve resorted to a double sided sticky pad that will hold it in place directly on the motherboard but without causing any electrical shorts or thermal issues.
If your wondering why the cable loom has larger connectors than needed on one end, you will be amazed to find out that despite our best efforts no-one seems to make a 2mm pitch 1×1 box header, the best we could find was 2×1. If our new adapter is popular then we promise to invest in tooling to develop a 1×1 box header. That said it should not cause you a problem!
We’re taking pre-orders right now, the initial batch size is limited so I suggest placing an order now if you want to guarantee one as soon as they become available later in April.
